Hello, I'm Melody. I've been a teacher for most of my life, both teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and music. Now I'm employing my skills in helping people and businesses put their best foot forward in writing.

I love a good story, whether it be written, sung or spoken. I've always got my nose in a book (or my Kindle), and I've listened to every episode of The Moth Podcast and Radio Hour–if you've never heard of it, please go check it out for a dose of inspiration, beauty and pure humanity.

Having spent my childhood in the United States, lived six years in Ireland, a year in Japan and thirteen years in France, I am comfortable working with English texts and texts written in English by French and other non-native speakers. I'm familiar with both US and UK English, including vocabulary, spelling and punctuation differences, and I'm versed in the terminology of both music and the IT industry.

Previous projects include a YA fantasy novel (US), a Master's thesis (UK), and a children's ESL curriculum in English as well as an IT company's vast intranet, a yoga class script, song lyrics, and my English students' emails, presentations and reports—all from French to English. I also enjoy volunteering with Distributed Proofreaders Foundation, which adheres to a strict in-house style guide.

In my personal time, I love to get outdoors, sing, read, ride horses, bake, and do printmaking, all of which have taken a backseat the last four years as I raise my two children, but I share my passions with them as much as I can. I'm deeply interested in life and have many strings to my bow!
